1.1 kV Grade LV Power & Control Cables

Power cables are engineered for bulk power transmission. They are designed to safely transmit high-current electricity from the main power source (like transformers or switchgears) to heavy electrical equipment and machinery.

Control cables are precision cables designed to carry low-current, multi-core signals. They send commands, monitor automated processes, and control the operational functions of electrical equipment and control panels.

Construction & Layering

To ensure maximum durability and safety under heavy electrical loads, 1.1 kV Power Cables are constructed with the following high-grade layers:

  • Conductor: High-conductivity Electrolytic Grade Aluminum or Annealed Copper (typically structured in larger cross-sections to handle high current).
  • Insulation: Typically XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) for higher temperature resistance and current-carrying capacity, or PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride).
  • Inner Sheath: Extruded or taped PVC layer that acts as a secure bedding for the armour.
  • Armouring: Galvanized Steel Wire or Strip providing mechanical protection against physical damage and serving as a reliable earth path for electrical safety.
  • Outer Sheath: The final protective layer, formulated from Flame Retardant (FR) or Flame Retardant Low Smoke (FRLS) or Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH), PVC to prevent fire propagation.

Control cables feature a multi-core design (often with numbered or color-coded cores) built to withstand continuous signaling environments:
  • Conductor: High-conductivity Annealed Copper (almost exclusively used in control cables to ensure superior signal integrity and flexibility; typically smaller cross-sections like 1.5 sq mm or 2.5 sq mm).
  • Insulation: Typically PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) for reliable dielectric strength, or XLPE for specialized high-temperature control applications.
  • Inner Sheath: Provides a smooth bedding layer to bundle the multiple control cores together and protect them from the armour.
  • Armouring: Galvanized Steel Wire or Strip ensuring the signal cores are protected from external crushing forces and mechanical impact.
  • Outer Sheath: The tough external layer, usually Flame Retardant (FR) or Flame Retardant Low Smoke (FRLS) or Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH), PVC, critical for densely packed control trenches.
